5 Ways to Ignite Your Sacred Sensuality

Take a few moments to become present in your surroundings. Engage all five senses. What do you hear, feel, taste, see, and smell?

Sacred Sensuality involves slowing down and engaging our senses in order to tap into the magic and richness of life. It’s a form of deep nourishment. It is also a way for us to awaken our sixth sense—our intuition—and tap into the universal vibration of love and our true essence. It may seem simple, but don’t underestimate the power of this practice. More often than not, it is the simple things we take for granted that have the most power to shift things in our life. I’ll help guide you into this sacred space by sharing five different ways to ignite your sacred sensuality.

1. Connect with Nature

Venture outdoors. Be present in nature by taking a deep breath and engaging your senses.

Smell the fresh air, trees, ocean, flowers, or whatever scents are present. 

Look around and take in the beautiful scenery; savor it like food. 

Listen to any sounds—perhaps the wind rustling the leaves or birds chirping. 

Notice any tastes in your mouth.

Feel the air caress your skin.

You can even take your shoes off and feel your bare feet make contact with the coolness of the earth.

Feel your sacred connection with nature and interact with its life-giving energy by being fully present. Begin to do this regularly and notice how it shifts your energy. 

2. Sensual Bedtime Self-Massage Ritual

While sacred sensuality is not all about sexuality, you will become more connected to your sexuality when you learn to engage your senses and be present.

Before bed, take some time to be fully present with yourself. Put one hand on your heart, one on your belly and take a moment to acknowledge that your body is the sacred temple of your soul. Send your body gratitude, and promise to do your best to treat it with the utmost love and care. 

Next, use a rich body oil of your choice—I like to use warmed almond or jojoba oil, either on their own or as a base with essential oils such as relaxing lavender, sacred rose, or uplifting orange.

Like a prayer in motion, lovingly and consciously massage the silky oil into your skin; feel its warmth and the sensation of your fingers caressing your skin. Smell the uplifting nutty or floral scents. Take time to feel your beautiful skin and take in the shapes of your body with your eyes. As you do so, send love and gratitude to your body for everything it does for you. 

Try this in silence to observe the sounds in your room, or play sensual music that inspires you to move your body. I have a short go-to Spotify list that includes some sexy and sacred chant music. 

3. Manifest Some Goodness 

Sacred sensuality contains the magic and power to manifest. Manifesting is a skill cultivated by practicing the art of presence—it involves visualizing what you want, feeling it with every part of your being as if it already exists, and even imagining any sounds, tastes, and smells that might relate to your visualization. Bring as much feeling, sensuality, presence, and detail as possible into what you want to manifest.  

To manifest health, you need to see it and feel it in your body. To manifest a new home, travel, etc., you need to smell the fresh mountain air, feel the smooth wood on your deck, and so on. Experience as many sensual details as possible as if it already happened/exists. Feelings and emotions that come from engaging our senses are the magical building blocks that create our reality.

4. Savor Your Food

Let your food nourish your mind, body, and spirit. Through our food, the universe provides us with energy, pleasure, and health. When we appreciate this gift with every bite, we tap into a higher vibration. When we are relaxed and present, it allows our body to digest and absorb all of the nutrition the food has to offer. 

Next time you are eating something—for example, a mango—slow down and engage all your senses.

Take a moment to look at its beautiful, colorful skin.

Give gratitude and set the intention that it will nourish all the cells in your body.

Feel it in your hands. Open it and smell its sweetness.

When you take a bite, feel the texture in your mouth and savor the sweetness and deliciousness.

As you practice this, your food will nourish you more deeply. I also like to use beautiful dish ware and table settings that inspire me. You can also light a candle and have some flowers on the table as you eat to enhance your sensual experience.

5. Presence with Loved Ones

There are few gifts as sacred as the gift of presence. Being fully engaged in the moment with a loved one, whether it’s a person or a pet, allows you to be present to the sacredness of that connection. Being present to the sacredness raises the vibration of that connection. 

We all want to be heard, seen, and loved. Our time in this life is finite, and being fully present in relationships improves the quality of the connections we hold dear. Share this gift by looking into your loved one’s eyes when they speak, appreciating their beauty, feeling the love between you, listening to their voice, etc.
