Nourishing Mango Smoothie For Brain Health

Many years ago, I used to avoid high glycemic fruits because I had learned that it was too much sugar which supposedly wasn’t healthy. This low glycemic dietary theory I had read about made no differentiation between naturally occurring sugars and other undesirable sugars, which I disagree with. This might not be true for everyone, but I happen to do very well with fruit. The brain needs sugar (aka glucose) to function properly and I ended up suffering with very bad brain fog, anxiety and depression. Integrating all fruits back into my diet was huge for me and helped me regain my health.

So now I am a big fan of eating an abundance and a variety of fruits and veggies every day.

Here’s one of my favorite smoothie combos that’s great for breakfast or as a snack. It’s fresh & delicious and will knock out any cravings.

  • 2 fresh ripe mango or 1 cup frozen

  • 1/2 - 1 cup fresh or frozen pineapple

  • 1 banana

  • 1/2 cup water and 1/2 cup orange juice (adjust as needed to get desired consistency)

  • 1 teaspoon Hawaiin spirulina

*optional—if you want to fancy it up, you can add a small bunch of cilantro or some fresh mint leaves

Use organic ingredients.

  • Mango - feeds the brain and helps calm the nervous system

  • Pineapple - helps cleanse and detox the body

  • Banana - brain food and blood sugar balancer

  • Orange Juice - source of calcium and vitamin C, and combats depression

  • Hawaiin Spirulina - a blue-green algae rich in iron, protein, and beta-carotein; it also helps us detox from heavy metals and strengthens the brain and nervous system

I hope you enjoy this simple recipe and I wish you infinite good health, and happiness.
